Fluffy, easy, delicious, yummy and quick soufflé with toasted bread, turkey ham and chewy cheese. Your kids, of any age, will go crazy with this recipe!

Perfect for days when there is no time to cook!! This recipe will be of great help if you are looking for ideas for a snack, especially when you don’t have much time and don’t know what to cook for your family, easily and quickly.

This easy soufflé can be served as a first course, as a side dish or even better for a weekend brunch.

And with large slices of toast bread (like the one from Gea Bakery), it’s even easier as it won’t leave gaps in between them and you can use the ovenproof dish, which is usually square, to its full extent.

I don’t know about you, but I’m already drooling!

1

Lightly butter a 20X25cm/8”X10”inches ovenproof dish.

2

Sprinkle some breadcrumbs.

3

Lightly butter the half slices of toast bread and spread them tightly without gaps, to cover the entire surface of the ovenproof dish.

4

Lay the slices of cheese on them.

5

Then lay the turkey ham on top.

6

Sprinkle with ¼ of the grated cheese.

7

On top, spread the remaining buttered slices of toast bread.

8

Sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese.

9

Optionally add salt, pepper and paprika.

10

Beat the eggs with the milk and pour them over the entire surface.

11

Sprinkle some breadcrumbs or we can add it just before putting it in the oven to have a crispier crust on top.

12

Cover it with a cling film and leave it for about 1 hour & 30 minutes so that the bread absorbs the milk with the eggs.

13

Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F.

14

Bake for 20 minutes (time is depending on your oven) until the cheeses are golden brown.

15

Serve and eat it as it is still hot.

Gluten Free Sliced Bread Souffle
  • Stale bread is an ideal for this recipe.
  • It is easier and faster to spread the bread in slices but you can cut it into cubes and mix all the ingredients together.
  • If you do not use slices of cheese, then increase the amount of grated cheese. The reason I put slices of cheese is because I want to put greek smoked cheese Metsovou for more flavor.
  • If you consider that is too rich in calories, then reduce the grated cheese to 1/3 of the amount, use ingredients that are low in fat, and do not butter the slices of bread. It turns out just as amazing as in the photo here:
  • You can prepare it in the morning and put it in the fridge. Bake it when you’re going to eat it. If you have guests for dinner, prepare it the night before, covered with plastic wrap and put it at the fridge. Bake it just before serving. It is ideal for a first course.
