The easiest and fastest Loukoumades – Greek Style Donuts ever!!!

With rich golden yellow honey and plenty of walnuts you will be surprised how easy and quick they are to make. For me, donuts are a summer affair. I have combined them with my summer holidays because they were part of the summer walk in the village plaza in Halkidiki that we went to every evening during the summer holidays. That’s why when I miss summer in winter, it’s the first thing that comes to my mind to do and feel that summer is coming. And this is the easiest variant for loukoumades (donuts) that I give you here.

 200 g corn-based gf flour or cornflour / corn starch - I used Schär's Mix it Farina
 330 ml carbonated beverage orange drink
 plenty of oil for frying
for the decoration (optional)
 honey or for vegans use maple syrup or agave syrup or any flavour syrup you like
 grated walnuts or other grated nuts
 grounded cinnamon

Abbreviations: g=grams • kg= kilograms • cup=250 ml • tsp= teaspoon=5 ml •  tbsp= tablespoon=3 tsp=15 ml • ml= millilitre= (1ml=0.034 fl oz / 1fl oz=29.6 ml) • l=litre/liter=1000ml

Sift the flour into a bowl.

Pour in carbonated beverage orange drink and mix well with an egg beater, until it becomes a uniform dough.

Pour a lot of oil in a deep pan or pot and let it burn well.

With the help of 2 spoons, take some of our dough and pour it into the hot oil.

Wait for them to golden brown of all sides and take them out on absorbent kitchen Roll Towel.

We decorate them with honey and grated walnut and Bon Appétit!!!

Ridiculously Easy 2 ingredients Gluten Free Loukoumades – Greek Style Donuts
  • Instead of carbonated beverage orange drink, or an alternative solution is carbonated beverage lemon drink or club soda. With carbonated beverage drinks that has sugar, we can eat them without honey or any syrup and that because they already have a sweetness and it is not necessary to add honey/syrup.
  • Instead of honey/honey we can sprinkle them with granulated sugar or roll them on a plate with granulated sugar.
